Five Little Guy Programs to Watch

I’m going to begin my look at the 2009 college football season in the same place I started the 2008 previews last year – with the little guys.  The little guys are the teams outside of the 6 major conferences that operate by a different set of rules than the rest of Division I college football.  No Little Guy has ever competed in a BCS national championship game and it takes a monumental season, one where going undefeated might not even be enough, for them to even crack into the second tier BCS bowls.  However there are a handful of Little Guy teams every year who make a whole bunch of noise and give the nation hope that they’ll crash the BCS title game and start college football down the road to a playoff.

Week 6 Heisman Ballot

Perhaps I’ve been putting “Clearinghouse Chaos” on too many of my posts, so I’m going to distinguish my Heisman Ballots in the extremely creative way of attaching the current week to the title. As I noted in yesterday’s thoughts on the weekend there wasn’t a whole lot of exciting action and with such little action among the polls there was also very little action among the Heisman favorites.

Clearinghouse Chaos Heisman Ballot v2.0

Who knows how long I’ll be able to come up with catchy ways to distinguish my Heisman ballot every week, but for now I’ll just throw out something random. Perhaps simply “Clearinghouse Chaos Heisman Ballot” will suffice since it only comes out once a week. Anywho, this week’s ballot is really heavy on quarterbacks, especially those from the Big 12, and it features a change at the top as well.

Clearinghouse Chaos Heisman Ballot, Take 1

It was suggested to me last week that I start up my own Heisman watch because “every college/sports blog has one”. I tend to agree and the only reason I didn’t do one sooner was because I wanted to wait a while before I went about making these types of decisions. Much like my reasoning for not releasing a top 25 poll until the first week of October (maybe I’ll write on that later this week…) I didn’t want to start my Heisman thoughts too soon. Anywho, here’s the first installment of my personal top 5 for the 2008 Heisman Trophy.
